Membership and Accession
Since its formal establishment in 2023, the African Association of Accountants General (AAAG) has evolved from its roots in ESAAG to become a Pan-African platform whose creation was supported by the African Union. AAAG brings together the Offices of Accountant General from AU Member Countries, creating a unified voice to strengthen public financial management (PFM), transparency, and accountability. As the Association grows, an expanded membership enhances AAAG’s capacity to share experiences, build stronger fiscal governance systems, and advance Africa’s collective development agenda.
Membership provides Accountants General with access to a continental network, training, technical support, and knowledge-sharing platforms. Members help shape AAAG’s policies and standards to reflect the diverse priorities of African states.
Effective long-term partnerships are central to AAAG’s mission of transforming public financial management across Africa. To achieve this, AAAG collaborates closely with governments, development partners, and professional accountancy bodies to promote innovation, accountability, and sustainability in the management of public resources. These partnerships strengthen advocacy, foster consistency in reforms, and optimise resources to support Member States at national, regional, and continental levels.
