Nigeria’s Accountant General of the Federation, Mr. Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi, has been elected Deputy Chairperson of the African Association of Accountant General (AAAG).
The election took place during the recent Annual General Meeting (AGM), held in Accra, Ghana on July 28, 2025, and attended by Accountants General from Member Countries. He will deputise the AAAG Chairperson, Mrs. Malehlohonolo Mahase – CA(L), the Accountant General of the Kingdom of Lesotho and the Association’s current Chairperson.
“The choice of Nigeria for the position of Vice-Chairman reflects the confidence and high regard that peers across Africa hold for Nigeria’s leadership and commitment to advancing sound public financial management on the continent,” Mrs. Malehlohonolo Mahase-CA (L), said.
As Deputy Chairperson, Mr. Babatunde Ogunjimi will play role in driving the AAAG Mission to advance public financial management, innovation, and collaboration throughout Africa.
Mr. Babatunde Ogunjimi replaces Mr. Abou Gbane of Côte d’Ivoire, who retired from civil service in his country months ago.
The African Association of Accountants General (AAAG) is a Pan-African body with 22 Member countries, focused on promoting leadership, transparency and accountability in Public Financial Management across the continent. AAAG bring together offices of the Accountants General from Africa.
